The Beats Series relates in part to the remnants of my neglected high school drum kit sitting in the corner of the basement and beckoning me to rekindle it’s energy. I started working with the percussion motif shortly before Covid set in and I’ve continued to develop it’s simple themes of pattern, rhythm, diagrams, notation, beat, and hot/cool color through collage, sumi ink, and watercolor.
